Get Involved in The Industry
It's your time to Dive In.
If you want to be a part if the entertainment, acting, performance art industry, you need to 'put yourself out there'.
FIRST: Learn your craft. There are a broad variety of schools, workshops and studios that you can choose from to learn your craft and hone your skills. One that we like is wci studios in San Diego and LA. One of the principals, Teachers, Coaches is Billy Cowart who has been the keynote speaker at numerous local events including San Diego Filmmakers. And remember; Don't leave home without your business cards. Anybody you meet could be an importand industry contact or a link to someone who can help take you to the next level.
SECOND: Attend local and regional industry events; Film Festivals, workshops, open casting calls and anywhere else that you may meet other industry folks.
The San Diego Filmmakers meets in Kearny Mesa at Groovy like a Movie on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6 pm. Be there. The theme of every meeting varies but every meeting has something for everybody. You will rub elbows with actors, filmmakers, casting directors - every phase of the industry.

THIRD: Volunteer with theater groups, workshops and film shoots where you can involve yourself in the craft.
